Welcome to Pencombe & Little Cowarne

Nestled in the rolling countryside of Herefordshire, the neighbouring villages of Pencombe and Little Cowarne trace their history back to the Norman conquest. Surrounded by orchards, farmland and winding lanes, both communities enjoy far-reaching views towards the Bromyard Downs and the distant Malvern Hills.

Pencombe is known for its welcoming village hall and active community spirit, while Little Cowarne centres around its historic church and scattered farms. Peaceful yet well connected to nearby market towns such as Bromyard and Hereford, the villages combine tranquillity, heritage and a strong sense of local identity.

The Parish Council

This website includes information from the Pencombe and Little Cowarne Group Parish Council. Parish councils are the first tier of local government and play a vital role in representing the interests of the community. Made up of locally elected councillors, the Parish Council works to maintain and improve the quality of life within the parish.

Parish councillors are volunteers who serve the public and act as a voice for residents on local issues. Their responsibilities include setting the annual budget (known as the precept), monitoring spending, and ensuring public money is used responsibly. They help oversee local facilities such as the village halls, open spaces, playgrounds, footpaths and cemeteries, and may comment on planning applications that affect the parish.

Councillors attend regular meetings, listen to residents’ concerns, and work in partnership with the district and county councils, as well as community groups and local organisations.

Above all, parish councillors are here to serve — helping to shape the future of the parish while preserving what makes it a special place to live. Use this website to read meeting minutes, agendas and communicate with the council about local issues.
